Working in Camden, Maine for the Summer

Angelique took a job working as an actor for the Camden Shakespeare Festival this summer. She was playing Celia in their "Summer of Love" 1960s musical production of As You Like It. And Jeezum Crow, did she love it!

Whether it was performing outdoors right across from the Camden Harbor, meeting amazing Mainers through the local hosts she was staying with, or just taking in all of the sights and adventures Camden had to offer, Angelique enjoyed every second of her time working in Maine this summer!

Angelique is Living Out Her Wildest Dreams by Being in A Production of Pride and Prejudice, Her Favorite Book!

It is a truth universally acknowledge that Pride and Prejudice is Angelique's favorite book of all time. And the opportunity to play Jane Bennet and Miss Anne de Bourgh in this story was something she had never thought possible. Let alone in this 8 person, wickedly funny production at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

This production has been an absolute dream come true! Kate Hamill's adaptation of the story brings out the comedic and satirical nature of the book in a way that hasn't been done in any adaptation Angelique has ever seen! This story is still sweepingly romantic while also bringing to the forefront themes of gender and a woman's role in society, then and now.

Angelique is enjoying every minute of being able to bring this story to audiences young and old in this fresh and funky adaptation.

Ensemble Member in Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Vegas-Inspired Production of Comedy of Errors

Ophelia in Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Production of Hamlet!

Ophelia is the most difficult role that Angelique has ever played. Which is crazy because she had the opportunity to play her one time before in college. Her first Shakespeare role in college.

Coming back to this role 4 years later, after doing 10 more Shakespeare plays and learning A LOT, she wanted to do her justice. She has grown so much in the two months that she has worked on this show. She learned so much about herself and learned from the wonderful people that she was in the room with and have the privilege to watch shine every single night.

And while she knows that what makes theatre so great is its ephemerality. That plays “are the abstract and brief chronicles of the time.” This one is going to live in her memory for a long time.

Intimacy Director for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom!

Angelique served as the Intimacy Director for Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's production of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom by August Wilson.

She is fiercely passionate about advocacy for artists and spreading consent practices through theatre and circus communities. She couldn’t be prouder of the opportunity to empower artists with this work.

Angelique hopes that this is just the beginning of her work as an intimacy director.

Adapted William Shakespeare's Cymbeline Into a Radio Play

Angelique Archer adapted William Shakespeare's Cymbeline into a 60-minute radio play for Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Second Sunday Shakespeare Series on WVXU.

Cymbeline is about the secret marriage of a king's daughter that sets off a chain reaction of slander, jealousy, and divine intervention in this quirky romance. With a cast that includes an evil stepmother, scheming suitor, and devoted lovers, the drama is heightened by duels, kidnappings, and disguised identities. “Cymbeline” offers captivating storytelling that is crowned by the beauty of its language. A moving story of loss and redemption, “Cymbeline” promises that a leap of faith can lead to miracles.

Benvolio in Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Production of Romeo and Juliet

In August 2021, Angelique was cast as Benvolio in CSC's production of Romeo and Juliet. This production will serve as the company's grand re-opening of their Mainstage season.

She has enjoyed the opportunity to work with Darnell again as he was her director for both touring productions of Macbeth and has loved laughing and joking around with Crystian Wiltshire and Geoffrey Barnes--Romeo and Mercutio, respectively.

Angelique looks forward to the next six weeks of learning and growing with the cast.

Another Year Touring with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company!

Angelique has decided to stay with the touring company of CSC for another year!

She has enjoyed the past year with the company so much that she has decided to stay on for another year, as both an actor in the touring company and as the tour manager. She looks forward to continuing to perform in the touring productions of Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream in parks and schools throughout the year. She also looks forward to hopefully being a part of CSC's grand reopening in the Fall and to the moment when audiences can come back into the Otto M. Budig theatre!

A Touring Production of Julius Caesar

March 2021 to May 2021

In March of 2021, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company decided to add another show to the tour Julius Caesar! Angelique was cast as Portia, Octavius Caesar, and Decius Brutus. Through this rehearsal process, Angelique explored her range as an actor and dived into the physicality of each character to make these three roles unique and specific. Angelique was also given the opportunity to begin exploring her interest in intimacy direction as Crystian Wiltshire, the director of Julius Caesar, allowed her to choreograph the moments of intimacy between the two couples in the play (Portia and Brutus and Calpurnia and Julius Caesar).

While the rehearsals for the show took place in March, Julius Caesar did not open until May, when the weather was warm enough for the tour to perform outside again. The run for this show was short-lived as the contract for the 2020-2021 Touring Company ended on May 23rd. Despite it being a very short run, Angelique enjoyed the entire process and will miss this show very much.

8 Residencies in 4 Months!

January 2021- April 2021

Over the past four months, Angelique has taught residencies at eight different schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Due to the pandemic, seven of these residencies were virtual, but this pivot has taught her how to engage students in theatre in a multitude of ways.

Through these residences, she has worked with students grades K-12. With her younger students, she used games like WOOSH! and songs that connect to certain characters to have the students identify and understand the story of Romeo and Juliet. With her older students she has helped them create set and costume designs for King John, write sonnets, and even analyze gender and performance through Shakespeare's text.

Some of her favorite projects include the 30-minute version of Richard III she directed with the wonderful students of Covedale Elementary (see picture to the left) and working with the design students of Gallatin County High School to design their own productions of King John.
